Privacy Policy

1. Data we collect
  • Account details: name, username, email, phone number, role, password (hashed)
  • Profile details: profile photo, course/department, graduation year, employment history, mentorship availability
  • Communications preferences and delivery logs (SMS via Africa's Talking, email)
  • Event RSVPs and, where relevant, payment references (via M-Pesa) for paid events
  • Forum posts and job applications you submit
  • Basic technical data (IP address) captured with each Terms/Privacy acceptance, for audit purposes
2. Why we collect it

To operate the alumni directory, mentorship matching, job portal, events, and institutional communications described at signup, and to meet the College's own accreditation and tracer-study reporting obligations.

3. Who can see it

Your profile is visible to other logged-in members according to your role and privacy settings. Verification-related data (who verified your account, when, and any deactivation reason) is visible only to authorized College staff.

4. Third parties

We use Africa's Talking (SMS/WhatsApp), M-Pesa (event payments), Google Maps (alumni distribution map), Cloudinary (media storage), and reCAPTCHA (bot protection) as data processors — each only receives the data needed for its specific function.

5. Your rights

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting the College's ICT Department.

6. Consent record

Accepting this policy creates a timestamped record on your account. You'll be asked to re-accept if this policy changes materially.
